How to use it
- Paste your TSV into the input box, upload a .tsv file, or drop a file onto the box.
- The JSON appears as you type. Change the indentation if you need to.
- Copy the result or download it as a .json file.
Good to know
- The first row is used as the header. Numbers and true/false become real numbers and booleans. Dotted headers such as supplier.city are rebuilt into nested objects, so converting back gives you the original shape.
- You can copy a range of cells straight from Excel or Google Sheets and paste it in. That copy is already TSV.
About the formats
TSV
TSV (tab-separated values) is like CSV but uses tabs between columns. It is what you get when you copy cells out of Excel or Google Sheets, and it avoids quoting problems when your text contains commas.
JSON
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) stores data as nested objects and arrays. It is the standard format for web APIs and the config files of most JavaScript projects.
Questions
- Is my data uploaded anywhere?
- No. The conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript. Your data never leaves your device, and the tool keeps working if you lose your connection after the page has loaded.
- How big a file can I convert?
- Up to 25 MB per file. Very large files depend on your device’s memory, so if the page slows down, split the file into parts.
- Can I convert JSON back to TSV?
- Yes. Use the JSON to TSV converter, or press the swap button above the editor.
